Privacy Policy.
This policy explains how BBCVC LLC ("BBCVC", "we", "us") handles information in the apps we publish, currently the Air Quality Forecast iOS app, and on this website (bbcvc.dev).
- No account. The app has no sign-up or login.
- No tracking. No advertising identifiers, no ads, no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs. We don't sell personal information.
- Location is optional, used only while you're using the app ("When In Use"), and never tracked in the background.
- Your watchlist is stored on your iPhone. We don't keep a copy of it.
Air Quality Forecast (iOS)
Information that stays on your iPhone
The app stores the places you save (name, latitude, longitude, and any alert threshold), the order of your list, and the latest air-quality reading for each place. This data is stored on your device and shared with the app's home-screen widget through an Apple App Group. It is not uploaded to an account. Deleting a place removes it. Deleting the app removes all of this data.
Location
If you allow it, the app reads your location only while you are using the app, to center the map or add the place you're in. The app never requests "Always" location and does not follow you in the background. Apple's on-device geocoder turns your location into a city name.
You can deny location and still search for places by name.
Getting the forecast
To show air quality, the app sends a place's coordinates (or the text of a place search) to our forecast service, which asks our data provider for a result and returns it. Background refresh sends the coordinates of places you've already saved, for the same purpose. It does not turn on GPS. These requests are not linked to your name, email, or any account. Like any internet request, they include connection data such as IP address, time, and device type.
- Our forecast service runs on Vercel, which may keep short-lived operational logs.
- Open-Meteo (OpenMeteo GmbH, Switzerland) provides the forecast. Its privacy notice says API logs can include IP addresses and request URLs (which contain coordinates), are used to run and protect the service, and are deleted after 90 days. See open-meteo.com/en/terms.
- Apple provides maps (MapKit) and place names (geocoding). Apple's privacy policy applies to that processing.
We don't build a location history and we don't use location for advertising or profiling.
Notifications
If you set a threshold and allow notifications, the app schedules a local notification on your iPhone when a refresh finds the index at or above your threshold. The app does not upload a push token. If we ever add server push, we'll update this policy and the App Store privacy label first.
Data sources
Air-quality values are derived from Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) data via Open-Meteo, licensed under CC BY 4.0. They are modeled estimates, not readings from regulatory monitors such as AirNow, and they are not medical advice. During wildfire smoke or other events, check a local official source before making health decisions.
This website (bbcvc.dev)
This site is a set of static pages. It uses no cookies, no analytics, and no forms. Our web host may log standard request data (such as IP address and pages requested) to operate and secure the service.
Air Quality Forecast on the web (aqi.burum.dev)
The web version of the app is separate from the iOS app. Places you save there are kept in your browser's local storage. Forecast and search requests go through the same service and Open-Meteo, as described above. If you choose "Use my current location" on the website, your browser also sends that location to BigDataCloud to suggest a city name, and the map loads tiles from CARTO, which receives standard connection data. You can avoid the location lookup by searching for a city instead.
How long we keep information
On your iPhone: until you delete the place or the app. On our side: we don't keep a watchlist database. Hosting and provider logs follow those providers' retention (for Open-Meteo, up to 90 days).
Sharing
We share coordinates and search text only with the service providers above so they can answer your request. We may disclose information if the law requires it. We do not sell or rent personal information and we don't share it for advertising.
Children
Air Quality Forecast is a general-audience weather utility rated 4+. It has no accounts, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your choices
- Turn off location or notifications at any time in iOS Settings. The watchlist still works.
- Remove places in the app, or delete the app to remove all of its data.
- Email us with privacy questions or requests. Where you have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information held by a provider, we'll help pass your request on where we can.
International users

Changes
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here and update the date at the top. If an app starts collecting a new type of data, we'll update this policy and the App Store privacy label before that version is released.
